Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Boys Ranch Alumni Cemetery with Pastor John Love, pastor of Pastoral Care, Trinity Fellowship Church, officiating. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Canyon with Pastor Daryl Roach of MORE Church, and Rev. Steve Olsen, First Baptist Church of Canyon, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Brooks Chapel. Lamont Waldrip was born on June 4, 1933 in Medicine Mound to Frontis and Thelma Wall Waldrip. He graduated from Quanah High School in 1950 and received his Bachelor's in Agriculture Education from West Texas State College in 1955. He married Frances Pennington in the JA Hill Chapel at WT on April 8, 1955. He began as a house parent at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch on August 1, 1955. He also served as a teacher, program director, and was serving as ranch superintendent when he retired on August 1, 1997. Lamont was a member of First Baptist Church of Canyon, Buffalo Club at WTAMU, WTAMU Alumni Association, Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Alumni Association, and was an Emeritus Board Director at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. He was also a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. After his retirement, Lamont became a valued member of the Brooks Funeral Directors staff. Lamont loved his grandkids and watching the Texas Rangers. He also enjoyed supporting WT sports, watching PRCA Rodeo and PBR bull riding, hunting, and being a greeter at the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Calvin Wayne Waldrip. Survivors include his wife, Frances, of the home; two daughters, Beverly Hall and husband, Steve, of Bushland, and Camilla Lindsey and husband, Jordan, of Parker, TX; two sons, Lyndal Waldrip and wife, Becky, of Amarillo, and Justin Waldrip and wife, Beth, of Caldwell; brother, Roger Waldrip and wife, Kathy, of Vega; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Alumni Association, PO Box 9435, Amarillo, Texas 79105, Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, PO Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174, or Canyon City Masonic Lodge #730 Scholarship Fund, PO Box 187, Canyon, TX 79015.
