L. Hopper

Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Happy Cemetery with Leland Hutson, elder, Canyon Hills Church of Christ, officiating. L. Irene Parker Hopper was born on February 9, 1927 in Tahoka to John Horton Parker and Lola Patriel Brown Parker. She lived her young years at Draw and graduated from Abernathy High School. Irene married Lester W. Hopper on March 4, 1948, and he preceded her in death. She retired from Northwest Texas Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Happy and also a member of San Jacinto Methodist Church, where she was very involved with charity functions. Irene enjoyed taking care of friends and neighbors. Irene is also preceded in death by her parents, and seven siblings, Clelia Coker and her husband, Mervin, Faye Brunson and her husband, Curtis, an infant brother, Jo Bryans, Wanda McWilliams and husband, Leo, James Parker, and Gene Parker. Survivors include siblings, Johnny Parker and wife, Verbie, of Happy, Ruth Barrett, of Lubbock, and Don Parker and wife, Jean, of Happy; brother-in-law, Leonard Bryans, of Dallas; sister-in-law, Peggy Parker, of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Castro County Nursing and Rehabilitation, 1623 Butler Blvd., Dimmitt, Texas 79027.
