Kevin Cotter

Kevin Cotter, 68, of Canyon, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Services will be at 11:00 on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Living Water Christian Fellowship Church with Shane Nease, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:30 P.M. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Brooks Chapel.

Kevin was born on April 11, 1952 in Amarillo to Raymond and Dorothy Nixon Cotter. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1970. He married Linda Smith in Amarillo on May 28, 1971. He retired from the City of Amarillo after twenty years and began teaching and coaching softball at Canyon ISD. He was a member of TASO and started the Panhandle Fast Pitch Umpires Association in 1999. Kevin was passionate about softball and baseball and coached his children and grandchildren. Not only did he love watching his five grandchildren play softball and baseball, he loved watching all softball and baseball. He also enjoyed woodworking and collecting antique baseball gloves.

Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and twin grandchildren, Maddox and Malori Cotter.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda Cotter of Canyon; daughter, Stephanie Stewart and husband, Ken of Bushland; son, Toby Cotter and wife, Cheryn of Canyon; five grandchildren, Kacey Williams and wife, Samantha, Sydnee and Keylin Stewart, and Zayden and Baylee Cotter; brother, Lee Cotter and wife, Carolyn of Amarillo; niece, Jennifer Brandt; nephew, Aaron Cotter; and his dearest friend, his dog, Lucky Duck.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Bushland Softball Activity Fund, 1201 FM 2381 Bushland, TX 79012, Canyon Athletic Booster Club, in c/o Softball, 1701 23rd St. Canyon, TX 79015 or to River Road Softball, 101 W. Mobley St. Amarillo, TX 79108.
