Katie Stone

Katie Stone, 85, of Canyon, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Brooks Chapel with Tracy Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Brooks Chapel. Katie was born on January 17, 1940 in Canyon to Charles and Novvie (Bryant) Devenport. She was a 1958 graduate of Canyon High School where she was a member of the Canyon High School Band. She married Charles 'CB' Stone on July 28, 1958 in Canyon and they were married for 59 years before he preceded her in death on June 9, 2017. Katie was a talented hairdresser and owned and operated Katie's Beauty Shop in Canyon for many years. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Canyon and was a faithful member of the Adult Bible Study Class. She also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society. Katie will be remembered for her loving, caring, and giving nature. She was known as the family caregiver, taking wonderful care of her father, mother, brother, Edwin 'Pug' Devenport, her daughter, Julie, where she made many trips to Colorado for two weeks at a time, and her husband. She loved working in her yard and tending to her many beautiful roses. Katie is also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Edwin L. Devenport and Farrell Devenport, four sisters, Mattie Ruth Robinson, Verna Bailey, Charlene Huggins, and Margaret Maddox, and her precious daughter, Julie Heidemann. Survivors include her son, Rocky Stone of Spring; four grandchildren, Zachary Patrick Stone of Spring, Haley Heidemann and Charlie Solko both of Colorado, and Madison Lemmons of Chicago; two step grandchildren, Shawn Moloney of Midland and Jennifer Moloney of Spring; two great grandsons; and her son-in-law, Ryan Heidemann of Colorado. The family suggests memorials be to Dreamland Cemetery, PO Box 38, Canyon, TX 79015.
