Katherine 'Kathy' Simpson

Katherine (Kathy) Virginia (Bement) Simpson, 89, of Whitewright, formerly of Canyon, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with David Bagwell officiating. Private burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery.

Kathy was born on March 28, 1936, in O’Brien, Texas to Chester Lewis and Liddie Belle (Thompson) Yates. She married Gary Simpson on August 1, 1989, and they resided in Whitewright, Texas.

While living in Canyon, Kathy worked for Dreamland Cemetery for many years. She then worked for Focus on the Family and the U.S. Postal Service.

Kathy was a loving mother and sister, a devoted wife, and a cherished Nannie. She never met a stranger and was loved by so many. Her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Guy, sister, LaQueta, daughter, Barbara, and son, Larry.

Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Gary; her children, Greg and wife, Jana and their children, Jeryd and Deegan, Debbie and her children, Stephanie and David, and Shawn and wife, Rhonda and their children, Carolyn, Tessa, and Cole; granddaughter, Jennifer (daughter of Barbara); several great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
