Judith Robertson

March 15, 1927 — July 25, 2017

Judith Lavee (Smith) Robertson, 90, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 28 from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Graveside services will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, July 28 at Dreamland Cemetery with Hershel Smith, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Pleasant Valley, officiating. Judy was born March 15, 1927 to Roger B. and Clara Lavee (Hicks) Smith in Turkey, Texas; she was the eldest of nine children. Judy defined herself and her life by giving. She helped raise and care for her siblings, care for her husband and raise her child, her grandchildren, and her eldest great-grandchild. She went to school, eventually earning her master's degree, and became a school teacher, tending to her students and exceeding her duties to meet their needs. She gave to see her son, grandchildren, and eldest great-grandchild get the education and good start they needed in life. She gave her time and willpower to help fight for her brother-in-law, as well as other veteran's quality of care. She put everyone ahead of herself and all that knew her were better off for it. Judith married her husband Owen Robertson in 1946 and made it past their 71st anniversary. They still enjoyed listening to Skater's Waltz which played at the skating rink when they first met. Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon, TX is her resting place. She was preceded in death by her sister Lillian (Smith) Nance, sister Margie (Smith) Prestige, brother Bruce Smith, and brother J. T. Smith. Survivors include her husband, Owen Robertson; her siblings Leta Wischkaemper, Doug Smith, Sylvia Johnson, Carroll Smith and his wife Dorothy, and her sister-in-law Christine Smith; her son Roger Owen and wife Christina; her grandchildren Jennifer and Zachary; her 4 great-grandchildren Felix, Rebekah, Xavier, and Clarissa; and a very large extended family.
