Memorial Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Dr. Steve Vernon, nephew, of Dallas, officiating. Juanita Jo Anderson was born on September 26, 1923 in Olney, Texas to Katie Ann and Richard Vernon, the youngest of three children. She grew up on a farm west of Happy and was Salutatorian of her high school class. She then graduated from Lippert"s Business College and worked at a military base in Lubbock during the war. She met her husband there and after the war they lived in Miami, FL for 15 years where she put her faith in God into action and she and Bill helped to start a new church, Wayside Baptist. She raised five children, numerous dogs, and loved to travel. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill Anderson, a brother, Clovis Vernon, a sister, Movelda Fortenberry, and a great grandson, Nathan Robertson. Survivors include five children, Carol Baker and husband, Charles, of England, Barbara Anderson, of San Antonio, Bill Anderson and wife, Vona, of Round Rock, David Anderson and wife, Barb, of Cedar Park, and Becki Hilleary and husband, Mike, of Amarillo; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to the First Baptist Church, 1717 4th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015, or a favorite charity.
