Joyce Patching

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 15 at Happy"s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tom Stribling, pastor of United Methodist Church in Happy, and Rev. Bob Miller, pastor of South Georgia Baptist in Amarillo, officiating. Interment at Happy Cemetery. Joyce Patching was born October 11, 1933 to Travis and Roma Sprawls Payne in the Vigo Park Community. In 1952, she graduated from Canyon High School. Joyce was a member of the First Baptist Church of Happy. For 30 years, Joyce was the ticket writer for the auctioneers at several panhandle livestock auctions. She was part owner of the J & J Oil Company. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Landon Barrett in 1961, Bob Patching in 1984, two brothers, Richmond Payne in 1995, Travis Williams Payne, Jr. in 1997, a son-in-law, Jody Witten in 1998, and two granddaughters, Julie Weise in 2003, Jaci Barrett in 1984. Survivors include a son, Gary Barrett and wife, Brenda, of Canyon; a daughter, Teri Witten, of Texarkana, TX; a sister, Joan Hamblen and husband, Guy; two granddaughters, Jenny Vincent and husband, Sage, of Arnett, Oklahoma, Joli Hauser and husband, Dean, of Stratford, TX; three grandsons, Alan Witten, of Texarkana, TX, Jared Witten, of Texarkana, TX, and Geoffery Weise, of Canyon. The family requests that memorials be made to the Grandchildren"s Scholarship Fund, c/o Happy State Bank, 1908 4th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015, or the Julie Barrett Weise Memorial Scholarship, c/o WTAMU Foundation, PO Box 766, Canyon, TX 79016.
