Joseph Wieck

Rosary will be 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 3 at Brooks Chapel. Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 4 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Rev. Phu Phan, celebrant, officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. Joseph Wieck was born June 21, 1916 in City Rapids, Nebraska to Louis and Mary Liekus Wieck. He married Viola Bedenk on October 15, 1940 in Umbarger, Texas. They were married for 64 years. She preceded him in death in 2005. Joseph attended Price College in Amarillo and then went on to farm for many years in Umbarger. He served as a Director at Mid Plains Telephone Company, Palo Duro Village, and First National Bank. He was a board member at Farm Bureau and the Umbarger CO OP Elevator. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and President of Umbarger Senior Citizens. Mr. Wieck was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Skypala and Clara Reinart and by two brothers, Louis L. Wieck and John L. Wieck. Survivors include two daughters, Beatrice Toothaker, of Canyon, Dorothy Wieck, of Evergreen, Colorado; two sons, William J. Wieck, of Etter, TX, Stephen Wieck, of Brookshire, TX; nine grandchildren; multiple great grandchildren; brother, Ed Wieck, of Canyon, and a sister, Josephine Friemel, of Canyon. The family suggests that memorials be made to Hospice Care of the Southwest, 1301 S. Coulter, Ste. 404, Amarillo, TX 79106.
