Joseph 'Joe' Horton

March 14, 1972 — January 14, 2025

Joseph "Joe" Russell Horton, 52, of Dallas, Texas passed away on January 14, 2025, just two short months after his beloved wife, Wyola Horton. Joe was born on March 14, 1972, in Landstuhl, Germany to Allen Horton and LaVonne Horton-Gonzales. Joe considered the city where he spent his childhood, Amarillo, Texas, to be his hometown, despite residing in Dallas for a majority of his life. Joe married the love of his life, Wyola Rodriguez, on May 10, 2008, in Dallas, Texas. Together they welcomed their daughter, Jill Horton.

Joe will be remembered as a loving father, husband and brother, and for his compassionate and generous heart. After Joe's father passed, Joe assumed the role of caregiver for his brother and best friend, John Paul Horton, dedicating much of his time to John's care. When Joe was not busy taking care of his family, he was often found helping extended family and friends by offering his mechanic skills. He also enjoyed model building in his free time. Joe often put the needs of others above his own, especially when it came to his family.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Wyola Horton, father, Allen Horton, mother, LaVonne Horton-Gonzales, brothers, Allen Jr. and Donald Horton, grandparents, Calvin and Helen Henry and Bunk and Vada Horton, along with numerous other loved ones. He is survived by his daughter, Jill Horton, brother, John Horton, sister, Janice Stoner, niece, Alyssa Close, brother-in-law, Chad Stoner, sister-in-law, Wyomie Mattingly, brother-in-law, Billy Rodriguez, the Johnson Family, and extended family and friends.

A memorial service to honor and remember Joe will be held in Dallas, Texas at a later date.
