Johnny was born on October 24, 1968 in Amarillo to Margarito and Josie (Trujillo) Lucero. He was a 1987 graduate of Caprock High School, and on September 30, 1995, he married the absolute love of his life, Anita Gayle Gibson, in Amarillo. They were married for 28 years before she preceded him in death on October 25, 2023. Johnny owned Lucero Claim Service where he was a catastrophe insurance adjuster. Natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and others, called him to travel across the country including New York, Chicago, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida and many other states as well as Puerto Rico. Because of his deep passion for classic cars, he was also a classic car restorer, paint and body in his spare time. Johnny enjoyed volunteering at 7 Star Horse Therapy and working with the horses there at the ranch. He also volunteered at the Make a Wish Car Show, and he promoted his own car show in the West Texas Amarillo Swap Meet. He especially enjoyed going to the mountains where he fished and camped with his family, and also loved the beaches of Destin, Florida. His dogs, MoMo, Cocoa, and Boo were an extremely important part of his life. Johnny cherished his family and loved organizing get-togethers and reunions. He was always the life and heart of any party, and he thoroughly enjoyed showcasing his BBQ skills for everyone. His family and friends will lovingly remember his warm and friendly personality and his wonderful sense of humor, making them laugh easily and often. Johnny is also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Eddie Lucero, Roger Lucero, and Margarito Lucero, Jr., sister, Corine Lucero, nephews, Anthony Lucero and Timothy Mendez, and a niece, Sarah Salinas. Survivors include his sons, Jonathan Lucero, Jacob Lucero and wife, Venny, and Seth Lucero; three granddaughters, Mina, Mavis, and Annabelle; eight siblings, Pete and Mary Lucero, Ben and Lisa Lucero, Lawrence and Lisa Lucero, Chris and Paulette Lucero, Connie and Jason Thomas, Melissa and Michael Shepherd, Patsy and Eusebio Fuentes Jr. and Eric and Whitney Lucero; brother-in-law, Rick and Donalee Gibson; sister-in-law, Denene and Mickey Craven; mother-in-law, Imagene Rainey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
