Johnnie Louise McCarley, 85, of Happy, entered into God's eternal rest September 14, 2014 in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 17 at Happy Church of Christ with Rick Bloodworth, minister, and Bob Colson, officiating. Interment will be at Happy Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Happy's Memorial Chapel. Johnnie was born September 16, 1928 in Crowder, Pittsburgh County, Oklahoma. She was blessed for over 85 years with the richest of Christian love and giving. As the daughter of Bryant and Roxie Merriman, the family moved from Crowder, Oklahoma to Happy when she was 5 years old. Thus began a wonderful life of growing up in a faith based family, attending church and school, meeting and marrying her husband and the love of her life, and raising three children. Johnnie's joy for helping others was exemplified in her working for the Happy Independent School District for 35 years and actively participating in the fellowship at Happy Church of Christ. Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, Buck, her son, Mike, her parents, Bryant and Roxie Merriman, her sisters, Maude Bowe, Rosetta Crow, Jo Ann Davis, and Almetta Merriman, brothers, Floyd Merriman and Lloyd Merriman, and daughter-in-law, Tanya McCarley. She is survived by her son, Neil McCarley and wife, Melisa, of Comanche, OK; daughter, Becky McCarley, of San Antonio; grandsons, Cory McCarley and wife, Mandy, of Happy, Michael McCarley and wife, Jana, of Amarillo, Todd McCarley and wife, Tina, of Canyon, and Chad McCarley and wife, Kayla, of Silverton; and 13 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Happy Fire Department, PO Box 216, Happy, TX 79042, The patients of Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, in care of The Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Foundation, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106, or to your favorite charity. Johnnie's family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Swisher Home Health, Tulia Health and Rehabilitation, Swisher Memorial Hospital, and BSA Hospice for their diligent and loving care. A very special thank you to Dr. Tori Marnell for her knowledge, care, and compassion which allowed Johnnie's family an extended time with her. To the many friends and family members who have loved, supported and cared for her over the years, know that Johnnie loved you and appreciated everything you did for her. She just couldn't say thank you enough.
