The good Lord called John William Reagan, 57, of Canyon, TX, home into eternal glory on June 8, 2024. He passed away peacefully at home in bed with Jesus holding his hand, as he wished.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Canyon, with committal following at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 at Brooks Chapel, with visitation following from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Born in Lubbock, TX, on March 1, 1967, John was quickly adopted by A.J. and Nita Nell Reagan of Clovis, NM. Because he was a surprise, his first bed was a turkey pan. The family soon moved to Canyon, TX, where John spent the remainder of his life, apart from short stints in Albuquerque and San Antonio.
Growing up in Canyon, John was into everything, especially mischief and rowdiness. He made friends easily and kept them for life. Bicycles and hot wheels on dirt hills gave way to motorcycles and fast cars. He sought excitement and adventure. He and his buddies would take unplanned trips on a whim with just a tank of gas and a case of beer. The stories are still being told to this day.
After 37 years of living single life at full throttle, John changed his ways when his son, Kam, was born, and John suddenly had a family of five. On August 12, 2006, in front of God, John faithfully committed the remainder of his days to Emily Lauterbach and the boys to make the family permanent.
Known to many as the "Water Boy," John worked diligently for Sierra Springs for 28 years. He was also very proud of jobs he held previously at Pioneer Natural Gas, BPI, Budweiser, and working on transmissions.
John loved the Dallas Cowboys, Harley Davidson, Chevrolet, and Jesus. He was the loudest, proudest fan in the stand for two decades of the boys' sports. John had many hobbies including anything involving the lake, ATV's, snow skiing, and classic cars. An avid collector, John saw the value in random stuff. As a true salesman, John never met a stranger, and would do just about anything for anyone. John's heart was huge, his life was too short, but his circle of friends will never end. He was truly one of a kind.
John is preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Nita Nell Reagan, and his father-in-law, Ray Lauterbach. Survivors include his wife, Emily Reagan; sons Derius Jones and wife Kinsley, Bucky Jones, and Kam Reagan and fiancée Anniston Hughes; sister Leann Seymour and husband Steven; mother-in-law Beth Lauterbach; in-laws Brenda Owens and Matthew Lauterbach; and nieces and nephews A.J., Ashley, Raymond, Laura, and Robert.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to a charity of your choice because John would have given the shirt off of his back to anyone. Also, please recall some of your favorite memories of your times with John and send them to Emily at ereagan@suddenlink.net with the subject line "John".
Good night, John Boy. We'll see ya!
