Joelyn Brooks

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church in Canyon with Rev. David Morgan, pastor, and Rev. Billy D. Nickell, pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Amarillo, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Joelyn Brooks was born on December 19, 1955 in Canyon to Joe Grady and Evelyn Ridley Crowley. She received her Bachelors degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and worked for twenty-eight years as head of medical records at Bivins Memorial Nursing Home in Amarillo. She was a lifetime member of First Assembly of God Church in Canyon and taught Sunday School for many years. Joelyn was devoted to her boys and she will be fondly remembered by so many for her sweet spirit. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her sons, Benji Brooks and wife, Nicole, and Cody Brooks, all of Canyon; her siblings, Patty Crowley, of Amarillo, Penny Hammack and husband, Jimmie, of Caddo Mills, Johnny Crowley and wife, Amy, of Amarillo, and Kay Hamby and husband, Tonny, of Canadian; and many nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to the First Assembly of God Church, 2318 13th Avenue, Canyon, Texas 79015.
