Joe Carruth

Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Brooks Chapel with Donna Johnston, Pastoral Care Minister, officiating. Joe K. Carruth was born on April 21, 1959 to Thomas P. and Norma L. Durrett Carruth in Lubbock, TX. Four months after he was born they moved to Canyon where he was a lifetime resident. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1977 and married Debra S. Turner on September 7, 2003 in Canyon, TX. Joe was an auto mechanic and specialized in auto and truck front ends. He was a partner in Canyon Tire Company with his brother, Tom Carruth, and sister, Jerri Thomas. Joe's hobbies included hunting quail, fishing, and he was an expert snow skier. Joe was devoted to his wife Debbie and she to him. In their later years they cared for each other with their serious health problems. Joe's friend of many years, Joe Luquette, was especially generous with this time in helping Joe when his health deteriorated after Debbie's death. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canyon. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 10 years, Debra S. Turner Carruth, on September 19, 2013. Survivors include his parents, Thomas P. and Norma D. Carruth, of Amarillo; brothers, Alan W. Carruth and wife, Barbara, of Flower Mound, TX, and Tom Carruth, Jr. of Canyon, TX; sisters, Jerri Thomas and husband, Paul, and their son, Logan P., of Amarillo, TX, and Melissa A. Carruth and her daughters, Cortnie and Deidre Grauel, of Amarillo, TX; and nieces, Stephanie Carruth and her sons, Gavin and Matthew, of Lewisville, TX, and Alicia G. and husband, Steve Basmajian, of Coppell, TX.
