Jimmy Owen, 77, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Private interment will be in Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan, Texas.

Jimmy was born on December 27, 1948, in Rotan, Texas to James Campbell and Vesta (Coppage) Owen. He was a 1968 graduate of Amarillo High School and received his associate degree in the Electrical Union Trades Program at Amarillo Junior College. He married his lifelong friend and high school sweetheart, Connie Sue Scruggs, right after graduation and together they raised three sons.

Jimmy worked in the Amarillo area as an electrician before becoming a home builder and electrical contractor for many years. He was known for his innovation and creative building ideas, always looking for new business opportunities. His life was defined by hard work and love for his family. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and had a deep passion for flying, often spending time at the local airport. He was a Mason with San Jacinto Lodge #1330 and a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bobby Dennis Owen, and his sister, Veona Lee Owen.

Survivors include his three sons, Jerry Owen of Argyle, James Owen and wife, Shannon of Camden, AR, and Carey Owen and wife, Stephenie of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Campbell, Cassidy, Callum, and Caylee Owen, Chelsa Donaldson, Adeline Quillin, Jensen Worley, and Emily Owen; and four great grandchildren, Riley and John Gregory Quillin, and Lucy and James Worley.
