Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 10 at St. George's Episcopal Church with Annelle Cockrell, officiating. Military Honors provided by Volleys for Veterans. Private Interment. Jim was born April 5, 1940 in Rome, Georgia to Noah David and Emma Minshew Couzzourt. He graduated from West Texas State University with a Bachelors degree in Languages and a Masters degree in Literature. Jim married Beverly Schmidt on November 6, 1981 in Canyon. While serving in the Air Force, Jim was a medic on stand by when the Bay of Pigs Invasion took place. He was most proud of serving in the Peace Corp and 4 of his years with the Peace Corp were served in Honduras. He had an amazing love for anthropology and archaeology of West Texas. He had been published numerous times. Jim was a member of the Texas Archaeological Society and also St. George's Episcopal Church, where he served as St. Nicholas at the Feast of St. Nicholas. Jim was an amazing daddy and a devoted husband. He loved his girls. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Beverly; and two daughters, Maggie Hayes and husband, Aaron, of Canyon and Katie Couzzourt of Hinesville, Georgia. Memorials may be sent to St. Benedict Monastery, Inc., 17825 S. Western St., Canyon, TX 79015.
