Jessie Averill

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Mr. Tim Atchison officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Dewey City Cemetery, Dewey, Oklahoma. Jessie Averill was born on September 13, 1929 in Hale Center, Texas to Claud and Lena Goodwin Lemons. She married Harry Averill, Jr. on July 11, 1950 in New Kirk, Oklahoma. They were married for 42 years before he preceded her in death in 1992. She worked for Montgomery Ward in Bartlesville, OK for twenty years. Jessie was a member of Eastern Star where she was past Worthy Matron of the Hereford Chapter. She was also a member of Canyon Hills Church of Christ in Canyon. Jessie was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Lemons and his wife, Lois, and Walter Lemons and wife, Peggy, and a sister, Dorothy Black and her husband, Glenn. Survivors include a brother, Donald Lemons, of Jamal, CA and many nieces and nephews.
