Jerry Grimes

Jerry Doyle Grimes, 84, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Brooks Chapel with Charla Cobb, chaplain of Kinder Hearts Hospice, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon.

Jerry was born on July 31, 1940 in Wheeler to Doyle and Bulah (Brewer) Grimes and was a graduate of Mobeetie High School. He married Beverly Rae Grimes on January 22, 1971, and they lived in Stratford where he farmed and drove a truck. They moved to Amarillo in 1997.

Jerry loved the mountains and never found a fishing hole he didn't like. He also enjoyed game shows, rodeos, John Deere tractors, and old cars, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren that he adored.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Beverly, and his parents.

Survivors include his four children, Marvin Grimes and wife, Kelley of Lubbock, Darren Grimes and wife, Liz of Lubbock, Brent Grimes and wife, Gina of Arcadia, OK, and Kelly Adams and husband, Jason of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Dee Grimes and wife, H.K. of Newport News, VA, Drue Grimes of Addison, TX, Zachary Grimes and wife, Jourdan of Oklahoma City, OK, Tanner Grimes of Choctaw, OK, Madison Grimes of Edmond, OK, Klay Adams of The Colony, TX, and Kolby Adams of Amarillo; brother, Gary Grimes and wife, Marilyn of Amarillo; and sister, Phyllis Tucker of Amarillo.
