Jaunita Newton

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Brooks Chapel with Terry Callis officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Jaunita Newton was born on June 25, 1945 in Bromide, Oklahoma to Nathan and Christine Ellis. She married Charles Newton on August 30, 1963 in Canyon, and he preceded her in death on August 23, 2007. Jaunita was a wonderful homemaker and loved her grandchildren, animals, playing Bingo. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Ellis, and a sister, Juanell Garrett. Survivors include her son, Thomas Newton, of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Chelcie Artho, of Umbarger and Brice Bonham, of Canyon; one great grandchild, Caison Artho; her daughter-in-law, April Newton, of Canyon; three sisters, Dorothy, Mearline, and Pearline; sister-in-law, Linda Thrasher and husband, Charlie; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the Amarillo SPCA, 800 W. 3rd, Amarillo, TX 79101.
