Canyon

Janette Fay Moss, 77, of Canyon, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating.

Janette was born on August 12, 1948 in Amarillo, Texas to E.A. “Gus” and Grace LaVerne Ballew. She lived her entire life in Amarillo, Texas. Shortly after graduating from Palo Duro High School, she married Charles E. Moss on January 11, 1968. Together they welcomed two children, who were the light of her life. She poured her heart into her family, raising her children with a love and care that words can hardly capture. Later she embraced and loved her grandsons with the same devotion, cherishing them with a tenderness that left a lasting impression on their hearts.

Janette was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. She cherished her many years of singing in the church choir, lifting her voice in praise with a joy that seemed to shine from within. Her beautiful smile and crown of white hair became a familiar and comforting sight on the televised Sunday morning services, a quiet blessing to all who watched. She sang with grace in the church’s Living Christmas Tree program and later served with the same devotion in the church’s tape library. She had a quiet spirit and stood out not by intention, but by the light of the Spirit within her, touching every heart around her.

Janette loved Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and lived her life fully trusting in Him, sharing His love with everyone she met. Her greatest desire was for others to know the hope and joy found in Christ and to share in the promise of heaven. She encouraged those around her to be thankful, especially during difficult times, always reminding them of 1 Thessalonians 5:18: ‘Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’ Her unwavering faith, kindness and gentle spirit touched many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Psalm 116:15
