James Neil McCarley, 69, of Happy, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Happy Cemetery in Happy, Texas with Bob Colson officiating.
Neil was born on April 2, 1951 in Amarillo to Buck and Johnnie Merriman McCarley. He graduated from Happy High School and attended Abilene Christian University and West Texas State University. Neil was a paramedic in Canyon for twenty years and after retirement, he worked at Braum's in Canyon. He was a member of Happy Church of Christ. Neil enjoyed working crossword puzzles and loved watching his grandchildren in sports, but his greatest love was just spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Neil was preceded in death by is parents, Buck and Johnnie McCarley, a brother, David Michael McCarley, and his wife, Tanya McCarley. Survivors include four sons, Cory McCarley and wife, Mandy of Happy, Michael McCarley and wife, Jana of Amarillo, Todd McCarley of Happy, and Chad McCarley and wife, Kayla of Weatherford, TX; eleven grandchildren, Cameron, Chelsea, Colton, Mikel, Kandiss, Cayden, Aimee, Lexey, Layni, Deyton, and Brynlie; one great grandson, Declan; and one sister, Becky McCarley.
The family suggests memorials be to Happy Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 216, Happy, Texas 79042.
