James "Jimmy" Sherman Cox, Jr., 79, of Happy, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 26 at Happy's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tom Stribling, officiating. James will be available for viewing at Happy's Memorial Chapel from 11:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday.

James was born on January 28, 1941 in Tulia, Texas to James Cox, Sr. and Dorine Barnard Cox. He graduated from Happy High School in 1959. On December 9, 1965, he married Virginia Roberts in Hereford. She preceded him in death on April 6, 2002. James was a rancher for 15 years. He also spent several years working for Wal-Mart as a truck driver and retired from there.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Survivors include his son, Jay Glen Cox, Sr. and wife, Georgia; daughter, Jo Nell Evans and husband, Scott; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Stephens, Morgan Stephens, Jay Cox, II, Kayley Cox, Kristina Fore, Christopher Dyke and Matthew Evans; eight great grandchildren; and a niece, Ashlee Cox.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Happy Cemetery Association, PO Box 343, Happy, TX 79042.
