Jack A. Tarpley, 89, passed away peacefully at home in Canyon on Friday, August 11. Per his request no services are planned. He was born in Ft. Worth. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from Bell Helicopter Textron after 30+ years, having started in Plant Engineering and rising to VP Operations BHT Canada. His assignments included Hurst/Ft. Worth, Amarillo, and Montreal, which required him to learn French while in his mid-fifties. An aviation enthusiast since childhood, he earned his private pilot license and purchased a plane while in his seventies. Survived by Sally, his wife of 66 years, 3 children and their spouses, 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a sister. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 904 19th St., Canyon, TX 79015 or to an organization of personal choice. The family wishes to convey their sincere gratitude to the many people at BSA Hospice who provided extremely caring and professional assistance during his final days.
