J. Roberts

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Brooks Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. J.C. Roberts was born on August 24, 1933 in Rice, Texas to William and Martha Hartley Roberts. He graduated from the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy in Ft. Bliss, Texas in 1974. He married Viola Evans on December 18, 1953 in Childress, Texas, and she preceded him in death on October 10, 1988. J. C. was a veteran of the Korean War and served full time in the Texas Army National Guard until his retirement in 1993. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include his son, Jay Roberts and wife, Sheri, of Amarillo; his daughter, Renee Roberts, of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Jayson Hutson and wife, Danika, of Lubbock, Shasta Merrill and husband, Kyle, of Amarillo, Jay Roberts, Jr., of Amarillo, and Janet Anthony and husband, Ted, of Amarillo; and six great grandchildren, Jayten and Alice Hutson, of Lubbock, Kooper and Jase Merrill, of Amarillo, and Jackey and Jeremy Anthony, of Irving. The family suggests memorials be to Meals on Wheels, 2616 13th Avenue, Canyon, Texas 79015.
