Hunsley Grace Strickland

May 9, 2014 — January 20, 2021

On January 20, 2021, Hunsley Grace Strickland danced her way in to the arms of Jesus.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M, Monday, January 25 at First Methodist Church in Canyon with Rev. Rick Enns, pastor of FMC in Canyon and Rev. Josh Light, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Panhandle, officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the First Methodist Church in Canyon.

Hunsley was born in Amarillo, TX on May 9th, 2014 to Josh and Sharla Strickland and her big "Sissy" Breklyn. Hunsley enjoyed her 6 years of life in Panhandle, Tx, Sterling City, Tx, Canyon Tx, Adrian, Tx, and Happy, Tx. Hunsley was currently a 1st Grader at Happy Elementary where she loved to read and wave at her classmates via virtual learning.

At the age of 2, Hunsley was diagnosed with a rare disease called Fanconi Anemia. During her 4-year battle, Hunsley was able to spread her #HopeForHunsley message through her magnetic smile and personality. She stole the hearts of so many by her sweet spirit, love for the Lord, and her contagious energy. She loved playing with her Big "Sissy", drawing, doing art projects, driving her jeep, singing, dancing, and most of all, creating her own Tik Tok's. She loved watching and helping her Daddy coach. She loved all of "her boys" and developed so many long-lasting friendships. Hunsley attended the First United Methodist Church in Canyon, and while in Adrian, attended Kids Club every Wednesday night. Hunsley wanted to be a dentist when she grew up, but that was always changing.

She is preceded in death by her cousin Tatum Schulte, and some very special great grandparents that she loved dearly.

Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Josh and Sharla Strickland and her big sissy Breklyn of Happy; grandparents, Julie Strickland of Amarillo, Aaron and Sandy Strickland of Borger, Bryan and Sherri Prater of Amarillo, and Tommy and Sherri Kenworthy of Perryton; great grandfather, Jerry Caudle of Hulbert, OK, Donald Wright of Dimmitt, great grandmother Janice Burke of Pratt, KS; aunts and uncles, Tanner Strickland and Summer Strickland of Amarillo, Shawna and Travis Schulte of Canyon, Shayla and Josh King of Perryton; and her loving cousins Shaylin Schulte, Tate and Slayde King, Brynslee and Bracyn Strickland. She leaves behind many friends from Panhandle, Sterling City, Canyon, Adrian, and Happy; especially Happy Elementary.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Hunsley to Be the Match or Fanconi Anemia Research Foundation.
