Howard was born on December 4, 1940, in Flomot, Texas to Jack and Ida (Wooten) Landry. He grew up in that area and married Bulah Price on January 1, 1960, at the Baptist Church in Quitaque. They were married for 59 wonderful years before she preceded him in death on March 8, 2019. He was a heavy equipment operator for Southwest Portland Cement for 15 years and then established H&B Archery in Amarillo for the next 20 years, where he and Bulah competed extensively and very successfully in archery competitions across the country.

He enjoyed antique tractors and participated in the Panhandle Tractor Club. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and an active Shriner involved in Khiva Shriners activities and parades. He had a passion for racing enduro motorcycles and even organized events in the Silverton, Quitaque, and Turkey areas. He cherished numerous road trips with family and friends on his motorcycle—a hobby he continued until very recently. His loved ones will always treasure his distinctive sense of humor and his remarkable talent for making others laugh. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed.
