Hilda Albers

Celebration of life services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Canyon with Pastor John Elser officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, east of Canyon, following the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Brooks Chapel. Hilda Marie Albers was born on December 2, 1924 in Abilene, Texas to Edwin and Concordia Mueller Heckmann. She graduated from Riesel High School in 1942 and attended St. John Lutheran College in Winfield, Kansas. She married John Albers on June 14, 1946 in Waco, and they moved to Canyon in 1947. Hilda was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Canyon Senior Citizens, and the Quilters Guild. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, four brothers, and a son, David. Survivors include four daughters, Beth Lauterbach, of Canyon, Katherine Gaston, of Colorado Springs, CO, Joan Ryan, of Amarillo, and Nancy Horton, of Florence, TX; three sons, Jim Albers, of Walburg, TX, Larry Albers, of Bastrop, TX, and John Albers, of Lake Jackson, TX; two brothers, Harold Heckmann, of Houston, and Robert Heckmann, of Richmond, VA; one sister, Doris DeYoung, of Pflugerville, TX; and twenty-two grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
