Helen Jones

Helen Jones, 86, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 22, 2003 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at Souls Harbor Church in Amarillo with Rev. Freddie Richardson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Helen was born on December 24, 1916 to Curtis and Ella Mae Carnley Brooks. She moved to Amarillo from Knox City in 1943. She lost her mother at an early age and helped raise her brothers and sisters. Her family and her faith in God were her life and she loved reading her bible. She was a member of Four Square Gospel Church. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, three sisters, Betty Jo Brooks, Opal Ruth Beaty, and Mary Cochran, and one brother, L.A. Brooks. Survivors include two daughters, Ella Mae Whitley and Kathy Jones, both of Amarillo; one son, Curtis Jones, of Amarillo; two sisters, Virginia Warrick, of North Las Vegas, NM, and Rosa Lee Fagan, of Amarillo; three brothers, Ray Brooks, of Pampa, Bruce Brooks, of Canyon, and Glenn Brooks, of Wolfforth; eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. The family suggests memorial be to the Jan Werner Adult Day Care Center in Amarillo.
