Helen Batenhorst

June 6, 1925 — January 28, 2018

Helen Batenhorst, 92, of Umbarger, died Sunday, January 28, 2018 in Canyon.  Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Umbarger with Father Christopher Schwind, pastor, officiating.  A vigil will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Helen was born on June 6, 1925 in Hereford to Joseph and Mary Lueb Reinart.  She married Leonard Batenhorst on May 14, 1946 in Hereford.  He preceded her in death on March 3, 2007.  She was a longtime resident of Umbarger and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar Society.  Helen was also preceded in death by a son, Harold Batenhorst. Survivors include three daughters, Diana Batenhorst Stork and husband, Greg of Dumas, Kathleen Batenhorst Callarman, of Albuquerque, NM, and Brenda Batenhorst Avent and husband, Scott of Umbarger; three sons, Donald Batenhorst and wife, Kerri of Amarillo, Gerald Batenhorst and wife, Karen of Slaton, and Roger Batenhorst and wife, Kristi of Umbarger; nineteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; one brother, Leander Reinart and wife, Clara of Hereford; and three sisters-in-law, Irene Reinart of Hereford, Marcella Brandt of Umbarger, and Laverne Henscheid of Missouri. The family suggests memorials be to St. Mary's Catholic Church, PO Box 105, Umbarger, TX 79091 or a favorite charity.
