Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Canyon with Rev. Rick Enns, pastor, and Mike Kuhlman officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Friday, January 1, 2016 at Brooks Chapel. Private burial at Dreamland Cemetery. Harold Lee Dillehay was born on October 13, 1933 in Vega, Texas to John Harold and Ollie Graham Dillehay. He graduated from Vega High School and Clarendon Jr. College, where he played on the baseball team. He also attended West Texas State University. He married Janelle Price in Vega on August 25, 1954. Harold started working at the Coop / Elevator in Vega when he was 11 years old. He was always in the grain business and built and owned Farmer's Elevator in Dawn, and later Panhandle Milling. He also enjoyed farming. His greatest pride was in being a founding member of the Board of Directors for Happy State Bank. He also loved to play tennis and was an avid fan of the WT Lady Buffs and the WTAMU Buffs football team. He contributed a great deal to the area 4-H clubs and was awarded the Agri Business Man of the Year. He attended First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Aleene Jackson. Survivors include his wife, Janelle, of the home; his daughter, Janice Hamilton and husband, Clay, of Austin; three sons, Richard Dillehay and wife, Karen, Leslie Dillehay, and Edwin Dillehay and friend, Shannon Morton, all of Canyon; six grandchildren, Trevor, Alyssa, and Erik Hamilton, Jordan Chirlin and husband, Ben, Abigail Dillehay and Justin Dillehay; three great-grandchildren, Brady, Jaxson, and Braylin Chirlin; and a half brother, Jerry O'Connor and wife, Trish, of Hereford. The family suggests memorials be to the First United Methodist Church, 1818 4th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015 or to Childers Place Alzheimer's Unit, 6600 Killgore, Amarillo, TX 79106.
