Hal Moreland

Memorial Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Central Church of Christ in Amarillo with Bob Shepard, elder, University Church of Christ, Bob Crass, senior adult minister, Central Church of Christ, David Lough, minister, University Church of Christ, and Dr. Paul Matney, President of Amarillo College, officiating. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. Hal Moreland was born on February 27, 1965 in Monticello, Arkansas. He was a 1983 graduate of Canyon High School and received his Associate Degree in Radio-Television Production from Amarillo College. He was employed by Northwest Texas Hospital since 1997 as Patient Representative. He was currently a member of Central Church of Christ in Amarillo and formerly a long time member of University Church of Christ in Canyon. He was named to the Northwest Texas Hospital Employee Circle of Excellence in 2008 and Outstanding Volunteer for High Plains Children"s Home in 1984. He was involved in the local Star Trek Clubs in Amarillo and was an avid storm chaser for NBC. He also worked with NBC videoing football games. He was very civic minded and was a huge supporter of the Canyon Courthouse Restoration Project. He followed the NASA Space Program intently and visited NASA on several occasions, going through the training orientation program at one time. Hal was very involved with the Community Outreach Ministry at Central Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, H.C. Moreland and J.D. Rusler, his grandmother, Cora Moreland, great grandmother, Lissie Jordan, and three uncles, Winfred Rusler, Milton Rusler, and James Moreland. Survivors include his mother, Gwen Moreland, of Canyon; his father, Dr. Henry Moreland, and wife, Linda, of Canyon; one sister, Dr. Sabrina Moreland Neeley and husband, Dr. Grant Neeley, of Dayton, Ohio; niece, Jordan Routh Neeley, of Dayton, Ohio; two stepsisters, Robin Stout and husband, Dennis, of Austin, and Holly Arredondo and husband, Gerald, of Lubbock; step nieces and nephews, Sean and Sarah Stout, of Austin, and Bryndan and K"Leigh Arredondo, of Lubbock; grandmother, Retha Rusler, of Canyon; three aunts, Pat Rusler, of Canyon, Jo Anne Bannister and husband, Robert, of Winters, Texas, and Nancy Moreland, of Amarillo; two uncles, Ken Rusler and wife, Sue, of Canyon, and Clifford Rusler, of San Angelo; and thirteen cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to High Plains Children"s Home, PO Box 7448, Amarillo, Texas 79114, Community Outreach Ministries @ Central Church of Christ, 1401 S.
