Gonda Stayton

Gonda Stayton, 62, of Canyon, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025. Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Brooks Chapel with Jonathan Page officiating. Gonda was born on May 30, 1962 in Hereford, Texas to Charles and Mozelle (Harris) Stayton. She was a 1980 graduate of Hereford High School and received her bachelor's degree from West Texas State University (now WTAMU). She then received her Master of Library Science from Texas Women's College and became the librarian at Cornette Library on the WT campus beginning in 1990 and retiring after 32 years. When she found leisure time, she loved reading and knitting. Gonda is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leroy and Richard Denney. Survivors include her two sons, Liam and Owen Stayton; and three sisters, Bernice Nichols, Valerie Johnson, and Goldie Stayton.
