Gerry Burgan

Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Dreamland Cemetery with Don Travis officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Gerry Burgan was born on August 25, 1919 in Woodland, Texas to Travis Ira and Jessie Dalby Fleming. She graduated from Dawn High School and attended West Texas State Teachers College. She married Jimmie Burgan on June 22, 1940. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1996. She worked as the registrar at West Texas State University for 20 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon. Gerry enjoyed ceramics for many years, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Ira Burgan, and a great grandson, Dillon Luttrell. Survivors include four grandchildren, Kira Aduddell and husband, Bret, of Ft. Collins, CO, Tina Fortner and husband, John, of Allen, TX, Lisa Peach and husband, Byron, of Allen, TX and John Burgan, of Amarillo; six great-grandchildren, December Luttrell, John Marq, Gracie and Bella Fortner, Hudson Jones, and Griffin Peach; and one great-great grandson, Drake Luttrell.
