Fred Marsh, 82, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021. Services will be at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Amarillo with Rev. Fred was born on August 18, 1938 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Hiliary and Lyda Marsh. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Fred received his BA and MA from North Texas State University and Texas Tech University and was an Assistant Professor of Political Science at WTAMU from 1965 to 2000. In 2003, Fred was named Professor Emeritus by WTAMU. He was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and he loved cooking, especially at church on Wednesday nights. He loved his church and everyone in it.

Fred was a very generous person and was more like a father than an uncle to his family. He devoted his life to putting others first and their needs ahead of his own. He dedicated years of his life to caring for his brother, Tommy.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Tommy, his sister, Patsy Marsh Gaston, brother-in-law, James Gaston, niece, Rhonda Gaston Edwards, and nephew, James Russell Gaston. Survivors include his nephew, Ross Gaston and wife, Kay; two nieces, Tis Gaston and Mike and Robin Merkel and husband, Ricky; numerous great nieces and great nephews; and his treasured church family.

The family suggests memorials be to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2525 Wimberly Road, Amarillo, TX 79109 or to the WTAMU Foundation, WT Box 60766, Canyon, TX 79016, memo: Fred L. Marsh Scholarship.
