Fred Begert

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at St. Ann"s Catholic Church with Father Phu Phan officiating. A Vigil will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Fred Royce Begert was born on December 19, 1931 in Texhoma, OK to Frank and Verna Lee Richardson Begert. He moved to Canyon in 1953 and married Anne Buecker on April 8, 1959 in Umbarger. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He graduated from West Texas State College and was an avid WT athletic fan. Fred was a farmer and rancher and loved working with his cattle. He served as Randall County Commissioner and was a member of St. Ann"s Catholic Church. He also enjoyed playing tennis and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Anne Begert, of the home; two daughters, Debbie Richardson, of Corsicana, and Julia Begert, of Dallas; two sons, Mike Begert, of Grapevine, and Randy Begert, of Austin; a sister, Hila Pepmiller, of Garland; a brother, Bob Begert, of Dallas; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, Texas 79109, or the American Heart Association, 6605 IH 40 West, Amarillo, Texas 79106.
