Foye Smith

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at the University Church of Christ with David Lough, minister, and Bob Shepard, Elder and Bible Chair Director, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery Canyon, Texas. Foye R. Smith was born in Kress, Texas on May 23, 1923 to Carl W. and Ruth Smith. He was the eighth child in a family of ten. He joined the Air Force in 1942 and served until 1945. He worked as an airplane mechanic at McDonnell Air Craft in St. Louis, MO. He moved to Abilene and then in 1966 he moved to Hereford. He worked for J.C. Penney in Hereford from 1966 to 1978 when he opened the Early Bird Car Repair Shop. He retired in 1995 and moved to Canyon in 1996. He was married to Pat Smith for 47 years. He was a member of the University Church of Christ. The survivors include his wife, Pat Smith, of the home; three brothers, Jack Smith, of Hale Center, Carl J. Smith, of Canyon, and Bennie Smith, of Lubbock; and one sister, Dot Leavett, of Vega. The family suggest memorials be to High Plains Children"s Home, P.O. Box 7448, Amarillo, Texas 79114 or a Favorite Charity.
