Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 17, 2003 at the First Presbyterian Church of Canyon, Texas with Rev. David Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church of Canyon, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Kiser was born on October 4, 1914 in Alvord, Texas. He married Inez Drennan Harding in 1941. She preceded him in death on December 26, 1997. He served at a U.S. CCC Camp for three years and then joined the U.S. Army and was assigned to Horse Drawn Field Artillery, a horse mounted troop, at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He served in World War II and after the war became an electrician. He owned and operated Kiser Electric in Canyon, Texas for many years. He was a musician and played the guitar, banjo and fiddle in many country swing bands throughout the years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Canyon, VFW Lucius Penick Post 5681, Canyon. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Albert Hunter Kiser and Cora Alice Gilbert Kiser, one daughter, Janice Elaine Kiser Stovall, one brother and one sister. Survivors include two daughters, Carmen Sue James, of Roswell, NM, and Korene Kiser Walker, of Carrizozo, NM; two sons, Floyd Dewayne Kiser, of Carrizozo, NM, and Edwin Lee Kiser, of Denton; one brother, Calvin Kiser, of Bowie, TX; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Heart Association, 6605 IH 40 West Amarillo, Texas 79106, or American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, Texas 79109.
