Faye Haas

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Canyon with Rev. Rick Enns officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Faye Baker Byrd Haas was born on March 8, 1929 in Lookeba, OK. Faye and her brother and sister were raised by their father, Frank Baker, in Lookeba. She was married to J.D. Byrd for thirty-eight years and they were blessed with four wonderful sons. J.D. passed away in 1994 in Amarillo. She lived in Canyon from 1952 to 1989. She married J.D. Haas on November 23, 1990 and they moved to Altus, OK for ten years. He preceded her in death and she returned to Canyon to be with her family. She was a teacher in CISD for nineteen years and was a realtor for Christopher Real Estate for thirteen years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon, TSTA, NEA, and Retired Teachers of Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Baker, a son, DeWight Byrd, her husband, J.D. Haas, a brother, Don Baker, and a sister, Odyth Jacobsen. Survivors include three sons, Bill Byrd and wife, Cindy, of Amarillo, Bruce Byrd and wife, Patty, of Taos, NM, and Danny Byrd, of Canyon; three granddaughters, Katy Byrd, Brittany Vann, and Bailey Byrd, all of Canyon. Stepsons Dick Haas and wife Paula, and Jimmy Haas live in Altus, OK. Step granddaughters, Shasta Brooking and husband Keith, Ericka Wiginton and husband Chad, also live in Altus. Step granddaughters, Destiny Cummins and husband B.J., and Jamie Haas live in Hollis, OK. There are five step great grandchildren: Kirbi Brooking, Lindi Brooking, Kade Wiginton, Cooper Cummins and Kara Cummins. The family suggests memorials to Dreamland Cemetery, PO Box 38, Canyon, TX 79015, or to a favorite charity.
