Evelyn Lorain Inman, 90, of Canyon, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Gene Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time on Monday. Private interment will be in Dreamland Cemetery.

Lorain was born on February 8, 1934 in Avondale, Arizona to Boston and Lilly (Hendrick) Justice and graduated from Avondale High School. She married Frank Childs, and they had a daughter, Susan. She then married Jack Inman and had her second daughter, Nancy. Years later, she developed a very special friendship with Paul Ashby and they were together for many years.

Lorain has been in the Amarillo and Canyon area since 1953 where she worked as a legal secretary and then retired from Southwestern Bell in 1999. She also owned and operated Canyon Florist and Bridal from 1995 to 2001 and served as vice-president of the Panhandle Allied Florist Association. Lorain was a past member of Bolton St. Baptist Church in Amarillo where she was the church organist and was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon.

Lorain thoroughly enjoyed working with the Historical Society and learning about the genealogy of family. She loved canning, traveling with Paul, tending to her treasured dogs, and especially loved spending time with her great grandson, Jack. The Ranch House was a favorite of hers, and she was a daily patron there.
Lorain is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Maxine.

Survivors include her two daughters, Susan Evans and husband, Larry and Nancy Beauchamp; four grandchildren, Jennifer Gates, Kaleena Nite, Josh Somerville, and Logan Somerville; five great grandchildren, Maddox and Caroline Nite, Emmett and Ian Gates, and Jack Somerville; sister, Betty Jones; nephews and niece, Tim, David, Allen, and Sandy; and her very, very best friend, Joyce Adkins.

Loraine faithfully supported Faith City Mission and the family requests memorials be made to them at PO Box 870, Amarillo, TX 79105.
