Eva Hooks, 73, of Amarillo died Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 25, 2017 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Steve Olsen, pastor of First Baptist Church of Canyon, officiating. Interment will follow at Dreamland Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Earline was born September 21, 1943 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Eva Lee Davis and Edwin Harms. She grew up in Borger where she graduated high school. She married Harold Dean Hooks October 27, 1962, and they moved to McAlister, Oklahoma and then to Canyon in 1967. Earline opened a beauty shop for several years and then worked as an administrative assistant in the history department at West Texas State University. Her next venture was an antique store and greenhouse just off the square in Canyon which she operated until she retired. She was an artist with many sculptures, carvings, and paintings created throughout her years working and raising her family. She loved her family and used her creative talents on many projects for her home and her children's homes sewing, painting, and working on various projects with and for her grandkids. She was an avid reader and collector. She is survived by her husband, Harold Dean; her daughter, Cindy Yeager and husband, David of Vidor, TX; her son, David and wife, Gail of Amarillo; two sisters, Bonnie Thomas and husband, Marlin and Mae Mastroberti, both of Borger; a sister-in-law, Kathy Polhemus and husband, Ron of Hanna City, Illinois; five grandchildren, Bobby Parish and wife, Chelsea, Brandon Parish and fiancé Savanna Hammel, Derik Yeager, Leighton Hooks, and Delaney Hooks; one great granddaughter, Baylee Parish; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
