Georgine was born June 7, 1944 in Dallas, Texas to George D. and Eula Morgan West. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1962 and received her BS in Education in 1969 from WTSU in Canyon.
Georgine taught first grade for 20 years, beginning with 3 years in Tulia and finishing her career in Canyon. She was active in civic affairs, the First Methodist Church, and Eastern Star. In 1968, she married Bill Tirey, the father of her children. In 2004, Georgine retired from the Financial Aid Department at WTAMU and married J. Don Wells, of Shamrock. Upon moving to Shamrock, she became active in both the First Baptist and First Methodist Churches, the Shamrock Public Library, the Wheeler County Retired Teachers, and various women's clubs.
Georgine learned to sew and play the piano at an early age and both remained life-long passions for her. She played the piano in every church that she belonged to as well as at numerous civic groups, weddings, and funerals. In 2010, she became a quilter and was active in the B. & S, Wheeler quilting group.
Besides sewing and playing the piano, Georgine was at her happiest being social. While at the Palo Duro Village Retirement Community, she served as a social director, organizing parties and bingo, among other things. She was an expert conversationalist and never met a stranger.
Survivors include son Jason, wife Vanessa, and children Abby and Anna Tirey of San Antonio, and son Preston, wife Sarah, and children Naomi, Ayla, and George Tirey of Canyon; brothers David West of Santa Fe and Bob and wife Linda West of Canyon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and bonus children and families.
