Ervin James Davis, 94, of Canyon, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Dreamland Cemetery with Gene Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Brooks Chapel.
Ervin was born on August 3, 1931 in Randall County to Earl and Helen (Burtz) Davis. He was a lifetime resident of Randall County and graduated from West Texas High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War and receiving a Bronze Star. He married Dorothy Gossett on August 23, 1957 and they were happily married for 33 years before she preceded him in death in 1991. He married Janenne in 1993 and they enjoyed traveling the country in their 5th wheel before she preceded him in death in 2006.
Ervin was dedicated to his farming and ranching, giving his time and energy to his work. He loved his cattle and was involved in supporting agriculture in Randall County through memberships in Farm Bureau, Consumer's Supply Co-op, Palo Duro Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Randall County Noxious Weed District. He served on the board of directors for the Federal Land Bank and served as past president of Dreamland Cemetery. He was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon.
Ervin is also preceded in death by his sister, Earline Fite.
Survivors include his daughter, Ronda Huskey and husband, Skip of Canyon; two granddaughters, Crystal Jensen and husband, Truman of Ft. Worth and Sydney Walker and husband, Lloyd Overbee of Dallas; and five great grandchildren, Honor, Harrison, and Hazel Jensen and Nora and Barrett Overbee.
