Ernestine Costley

Ernestine Costley, 81, of Amarillo, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. Services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Kerry Jones, minister of Amarillo Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery.

Viewing will be on Monday, November 15, 2021 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Ernestine was born on February 20, 1940 in Canyon to C. H. and Frances (Wiggins) Pond, Sr. She was a 1958 graduate of Canyon High School and was a beauty operator in Canyon and Amarillo until she retired in 2019. Ernestine loved being around people. She enjoyed making and selling ceramics and also loved gardening, dancing, and playing the slot machines. She was a member of the Amarillo Church of Christ and a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi Chapter Laureate Eta Tau.

Ernestine is preceded in death by her parents and several siblings. Survivors include her son, Jerry Costley of Amarillo; her daughter, Terrie Upton of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Bobbie Bible of Arkansas; and a brother, Bruce Pond of Amarillo.
