Ernest Nesteby

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Brooks Chapel. A beloved brother, husband, father, and grandfather, Ernest was born to Theodore and Edna Nesteby in Des Moines, IA on March 12, 1932. He married his beloved wife, Blanche Godfrey Nesteby on April 30, 1957. He was a resident of Canyon for 46 years where he raised his children. Ernest joined the Army in 1957 and fought in the Korean War and made that his career until 1963. He then worked for West Texas State University for many years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Blanche in 2004, two sons, Charles Shores and Gary Nesteby, and his brother, Kenneth Nesteby, who raised him after their parents died of tuberculosis. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Blakley, of Lubbock, and Linda Bennett, of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Dolores Nesteby, of Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Zady Nesteby, of Canyon; son-in-law, Robert Bennett, of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, Charidee Nesteby Clark and husband, James and their children, Jozlin and Elie of Canyon, Illeatha Blakley Adams and husband, Trey and their children, Atraya and Andy, of Lubbock, Timothy Bennett, of Oklahoma City, Joshua Blakley, of Lubbock, April Bennett Skyes and husband, Christ and their son Hunter, Dean Craven and wife, Kathleen and their children Sarah, Emily, and Dean Jr. of Avon Lake, Ohio, Natalie Ritchie and her children, Summer and Stormy, of Waco, and Sterlin Ritchie, of Waco; and several nieces and nephews.
