Edward Grabber

August 27, 1942 — April 4, 2016

Memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Gene Jones, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Ed Grabber was born on August 27, 1942 in Umbarger to Frank and Clara Grabber. He graduated from Umbarger High School in 1960. Ed married Judy Gibson on April 30, 1966 in Stinnett, TX and they made their home northwest of Canyon where they lived the rest of their lives. Ed dedicated his life to the beautiful, harsh West Texas land as a full-time farmer and father of six children. He was an active member of the Catholic Church for many years - St. Mary's in Umbarger and St. Ann's in Canyon. Ed was also a very proud member of the NRA. He taught gun safety and coached youth rifle teams through 4-H for many years, and participated and hosted rifle matches across the southwest. Ed's commitment to his community came through regular donations of blood and platelets at Coffee Memorial where for years, they knew him by name. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy, and his great-grand daughter Lilah Anderson. His survivors include his children Duane Grabber and wife Liz Grabber of Connecticut, Joanna Watkins and husband Terry Watkins of Georgia, Debbie Malone and husband Mark Malone of Borger, Gina Long and husband Mike Long of Ohio, Alanna Grabber of Amarillo, and Laura Lindsey of Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; his brothers John and Bernard Grabber of Canyon and sisters Sister Teresa Grabber of San Antonio and Bernice Tintes of Minnesota; and numerous other extended family members. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to Coffee Memorial Blood Center Development Department, 7500 Wallace Blvd Amarillo, Texas 79124.
