Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Umbarger with Rev. Scott Raef, Rector of St. Mary's Cathedral in Amarillo, officiating. A Rosary will be prayed by family and friends at 6:30 P.M. and Vigil services for the deceased will begin at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Umbarger, Texas. Edna Ottilia Artho Wieck was born April 13, 1921 in Dawn, Texas to Paul and Louisa Skypala Artho. She was the oldest of twelve children. She married her childhood sweetheart and best friend, John Wieck, on January 14, 1942, and they lived and farmed in the Umbarger area. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved being "Granny" to all who knew her and was always available to play a game of dominoes with whoever dropped in. She spent many hours gardening, sewing, quilting and cooking. She was a long time board member of the Canyon chapter of the American Cancer Society. Edna was a member of the Christian Mothers group and served as an officer of the Umbarger Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband, a great-granddaughter, her parents, three brothers and a sister. Survivors include four sons, Larry Wieck, of Dalhart, Stan Wieck and Mike Wieck, both of Umbarger, and Chris Wieck, of Amarillo; four daughters, Linda Hesse, of Brownfield, Carolyn Kirkland, of Lamesa, Marilyn Parker and Donna Brorman, both of Dalhart; thirty-three grandchildren; fifty-six great-grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters.
