Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 29 at the First Baptist Church with Shane Nease, pastor of Living Water Christian Fellowship Church, and Sgt. Richard Barns, officiating. Burial will be at the Silverton Cemetery. Dyrle Edwin Maples rode over the mountain with his Lord on Friday, September 25 at the age of 74. Dyrle was born October 3, 1940 in Briscoe County to O.C. and Ila Faye Boyd Maples. At an early age he loved animals, especially horses and law enforcement. Dyrle finished his first 12 years of education in Silverton. On September 4, 1959 he married Virginia Belle Stephens. To that marriage three children were born. Dyrle worked with his father in Maples and Son 66 Service Station, before becoming Deputy Sheriff/ Tax assessor and collector in Briscoe County. Dyrle entered Patrol School for the State of Texas in 1969. He then served ten years in Dimmitt. While there, he continued his education at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview. Dyrle achieved ranking of Sergeant and was assigned to South Texas areas in 1980. In 1991, he promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to Amarillo. His wife Virginia went to be with her Lord in March of 2008. Dyrle married Dorothy Johnson in April of 2009. He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 13, and has been a Baptist the rest of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; and a sister, Reba Tipton. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of the home; two sons, Steve Maples and wife, Nancy, of El Campo, Sergeant 1st Class FSC Mike Maples and wife, Kristen, and their son Nicholas, of Lincoln, North Dakota; daughter, Julie Torres and husband, Roger, of Bastrop; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a sister, Sheila Minyard and husband, Harrell, of Savoy; a step-daughter and her family; and a step-son and his family.
