Doyle Shaw was born on April 16, 1937 to Jessie and May Middleton Shaw in Honey Grove, TX. He spent his teenage years in Merced, CA before moving to Lubbock where he began working for Kerr Construction Company. While visiting his brother in Hereford, Doyle met Leoda King and they were married on August 11, 1956. They first moved to the Amarillo area in 1961 where Doyle was employed by Gilvin Terrill. In 1968 he went to work for De Pauw Construction Company and was employed for over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. Doyle and Leoda later purchased and managed Rockin R Self Storage in Canyon. Leoda preceded him in death on July 16, 2011. Doyle loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Evangelical Fellowship Church in Amarillo. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes during family vacations to the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico. Leoda was the love of his life and he considered his children his greatest accomplishment. He was known as ""Pawpa"" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he loved them all very much! In 2000 Doyle suffered a massive stroke which ended his career and left him left-side paralyzed. He was cared for by his devoted wife for nine years and was a resident of Skywest assisted living in Canyon for the past four years. Doyle's family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at BSA Hospice for the compassionate, tender-loving care he received at their facility.
