Doris Davis, 94, of Canyon, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Doris was born on October 31, 1930, in New Albany, Indiana, to Arthur and Julia King.
Doris married the love of her life, Delbert Davis, shortly after he returned from serving in the Pacific during World War II. Together, they made their home in Canyon, Texas, where they raised their two children. Doris worked part-time for the United States Postal Service, delivering mail on a rural route, but her true calling was creating a warm and loving home for her family.
She and Delbert spent their winters in Clermont, Florida, where Doris enjoyed fishing and cherished every moment spent with her brothers and sisters who lived in the same community. Her love for family, her kind heart, and her warm smile were a constant source of joy to those around her.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Davis, her parents, Arthur and Julia King, and four siblings, Louise White, Delbert King, Myron King, and Allen King
.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Green and husband Terry; her son, Dale Davis and wife Dorothy; her grandchildren, Austin Davis and wife Brett and granddaughter, Erin Kelln; four great-grandchildren, Lilly, Tylee, Cutter, and Layke; four siblings, Leitha Epperson, Yvonne King, Loretta Wheeler, and Wayne King; and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brooks Chapel. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Dreamland Cemetery with Corky Holland, Minister of Pastoral Care, First Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating.
Doris will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on through the love she shared and the lives she touched.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Marla Gales, Michelle Rivera, Donna Gugdell, Annette Sargent, Marcia Braddock, Liz Ragland, and Sarina Mayfield for their dedicated and compassionate love and care for Doris.
